CEL misfire and engine won't start

Porsche Lovers,

I hope that your experience could help to resolve my engine problem. I have CEL on in my Boxster S 2002 and shows misfire error codes (P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303). Unlike what I have found in this forum, I do not have weird noise from the exhaust, power loss, or any unusual observations other than the CEL and the fact that the engine won't start.

Here is the story in detail.
The check engine light was on about 2 weeks ago and I experienced a hard time on starting the engine (tried for about 5 minutes before it started). But, the CEL was gone on the next day (within 7 normal engine start-up after that). So, I just thought that was a battery problem or fluke. A week later, the CEL came back on again with the same error codes so I replaced the battery and all 6 spark plugs yesterday but I still could not start the engine.

While I was installing the spark plugs, I found some oil residue on the spark plug tubes (2 out of them). My guess is that it is nothing to do with engine start-up. Other thing is that I replaced clutch about a month ago.

Your advice would be deeply appreciated.

Run a fuel pressure test, and get the car scanned for any other codes.
