You have cool toys to play with. What are you going to do for engine management?

Original Variocam ECU can compensate for the additional airflow, so no changes requred to run in 2000=2002 Boxster or 2000-2001 996

So you'll be using the heads from a 3.2 or 3.4?

The heads are from a 3.2 & I think they are the same as a 3.4, I know the cams are the same.

I took the flat6innovations M96 engine rebuilding course, so I am basically copying their Stage 1 engine using LNengineering parts. I am in CA so engine will pass CA emissions test easily & add about 40 ft./lbs. torque @ lower rpm than stock. I already have a duplicate engine in my 2000S so if I don't find a 996 to put this engine in soon I will sell the engine to someone else.

Pro river, did you do all of the upgrades to chain tensioners, etc? Would you mind listing all of the build specs. 14k. Seems like a good price for someone lookig to upgrade and address all of the failure modes

Sgt, every part of the engine is cleaned & inspected for wear from the case to the bearings & bolts. Anything that can be upgraded is replaced with the best part available. New cam chains, IMS chain tensioner with the external preload spring, LN billet oil pump driveshaft, LN triplerow ceramic IMS bearing upgrade, New IMS chain tensioner paddle, New Cam tensioner wear pads, ARP rod bolts. Lifters & chain tensioners cleaned & tested in new oil heated to 275degrees.All recipricating parts dynamicaly balanced to half gram tolerance. Engine fully prelubed for initial startup including filling oil filter housing & pump & camshafts. Let me know if there are other build specs you are looking for.

prodriver,
it seems like a pretty comprehensive build-up. one of the things that i like about jake's builds is that they address all of the "modes of failure." also having 300+hp ain't bad either.
while i don't need a motor right now, it's always good to have resources. buying a motormeister just doesn't cut it. i may give you a call if/when the time comes.
i think i read somewhere else that you've done 2 of the m96 raby builds. did you ever get the other motor on the dyno to see what kind of power it makes? while i'm leary of instant-g's work, it's hard to argue with his logic that the boxster motor makes significantly less hp/lt than the 996. something is choking it down. i am hoping to unlock the missing hp whenever the rebuild time comes. i am curious if your experience shows that the 3.6 makes 300+ as jake advertises.
