About to do a 3.4 swap on 2000 2.7 boxster
Hey guys,
I recently had water damage on my 2.7 engine, so I am going to install a 3.4. Everything seems fairly straightforward, except that my car has throttle by wire and the 3.4 has a cable driven throttle.
What would be the easiest way around this? Im guessing the 2.7 intake manifold is a direct swap onto the 3.4, but id rather use the 3.4 intake. Can the 2.7 throttle assembly be installed onto the 3.4 intake manifold?

From (a write up with pictures is at the end of this link):

These cars ran the Bosch Motronic 7.2 system, which uses an electronic throttle body, linked to an electronic gas pedal (also known as drive-by-wire). When installing an engine into one of these cars, you need to use an electronic throttle body and corresponding crossover tube that matches that engine. (I.E. use the electronic throttle body from a 2000 or later 996 Carrera when installing a 3.4 engine).

I cant post any pics yet, I should have enough posts soon though.
Does that mean I have to buy an electronic throttle for the 3.4? If so, does it bolt onto the manifold or do I need the crossover tube?

I saw the link, lots of information, thanks.
But does anyone know if an egas throttle body for a 996 can be mounted onto an early cable driven 996 manifold? Or do I have to buy the entire egas intake manifold?

You would want a full egas motor. But yes a egas throttle body just bolts on to the intake manifold. There's no difference.
