Question Exhaust system

I was just wondering the specifics behind the boxster exhaust how above a certain RPM the exhause gets louder and more sporty. I have an idea how this works but I would like to know specifically how the Boxster exhaust achieves this.

Also I'm interested in swapping the exhause system - what systems are well known to give a bit of extra hp/ while producing a beautiful sound, as well as being reasonably priced?

Thanks

I have not seen anyone report an exhaust that meet your criteria. Of course, you have to give us a sense of what you mean by reasonably priced, how much HP gain etc.

A 15-20hp increase is not likely to happen, unless tuned ecu, headers, cat-removed, and intake, maybe at peak.... consider your self lucky if you could get 2-5hp by just exhaust alone. The best sound I've heard on a Boxster is from Gemballa, but they are close to US$1600 just for the rear muffler. Go for GHL(LOUD) if you want a Euro bad boy type sound(rough metal sound), they go for about US$1000.

I am still in search for my exhaust solution as well.....

just curious, cost aside does the factory sports exhaust produce any claimed increase in hp, or just "a more pleasing sound"?

Claims are easy, results, not so.

Ask these genuis's if they will take back the muffler, and pay the costs of the reinstall, if the dyno shows they did not produce this 15-20HP.

That should end the conversation right away.

I was thinking about getting the 2ndary cat bypass pipes from www.fabspeed.com

You'll get a louder tone but retain your OEM muffler.

Just a thought
