On my 986, the bulb is actually fine. It appears to be a problem with the contacts. It will randomly go out, if I give the dash a thump - it comes back on for a day. I went through about 5 bulbs before hitting the dash in frustration one day and it lit back up again!!!! hahahaha

I dont bother now, next time I take the gauge cluster off I will take a close look at the tracks that the globe sits on and see if they need a clean or some sort of fix.
