I do not know anyone who has tried to weld on a 2003/4 bolt on tip to a 1999 muffler. 2.5 owners who want the dual tips use a 2000-2002 S muffler with the sport exhaust adapter bracket.

A 2004 muffler will fit a 1999 if you use the 2.5 liter adapter bracket from the factory sport exhaust. This had been done on a few cars.
