Gary,

Yes. Simply disconnect the battery (all you need to do is remove the negative side). You will need a Torx driver to remove the two bolts on the back of the steering wheel (T-25 I think). The thread lock on those bolts is pretty strong. The air bag will come loose, there is a small plug connector on the back of the airbag, disconnect that connection and the airbag should be free.

thanks for all the great input. Looks like a simple fix. I have the part on order.

Next item on my list is the head light switch. Sometimes have to turn it on and off and on to get my lights to go on!

Really not too bad for a ten year old car.

Okay, Done!

Very simple job. Took about an hour to replace the part. Hardest part was getting out the Torx screws holding the air bag in place; only had a driver had to use a pipe wrench on it to break them loose. Air bag comes out easily and bracket replacement a snap. Tested no more unwanted honking.

When I first read your thread title, I seam to remember wiring a friend's brake light switch to his horn as a joke! I'm glad to hear you've fixed the issue.
