I have a 2001 Boxster S that my husband and I bought used with about 46K on it about 1.5 yrs ago. We've put 10K on since then. It's in the shop now for an oil change and our mechanic is saying it's likely due for a front break job in the next 2-5K miles. So, after all that long winded explanation, what kind of price could/should I expect for a break job?

I grew up in a 1960 356B Cabriolet and that's the reason we have the Boxster now. I am starting to regret the purchase though because of the expense of maintenance. Just spent $1200 on all new tires and I will have to have the CV joints done at some point in the near future as the gasket covers are all but gone....

I bought new pads, spacers, sensors and hardware not including the rotors and parts alone were 600.00. I had the install done for another 160.00

I would guess with rotors you could add another 600.00.

All 4 axles most likely will be 1400.00 with rotors and pads.

your local oreilly auto part's will have/can order the pads and if you are handy with a jack at all you can replace them for less then $100 for the front. I had the rotors turned and pads replaced in 2000 and it took maybe an hour (total labor).

Boxsters, like other automobiles have BRAKES, not BREAKS.

Just bought pads, rotors, and sensors from vertex for $750.

Installation locally would be $200 on the outside.

DIY - Way easy! If I can do it so can you...

I have a 2004 Boxster and got Hawk HPS pads and new discs from R1 Concepts for a grand total of $425.00 for front and rear. I changed them all myself and the total time was 1 hour-it was soooo easy. Changing just the pads would have been even quicker: pull the pad wear sensor wires and one pin and they just slide out.

I have a guy that does all of my wheel, brake, alignment, and suspension work. He is outstanding and fair in price.

If you are willing to drive a bit, I recommend him. Drop the car off and have him take you down to the beach for the day and pick you back up when the car is ready.
