Dealer cannot turn on digital Temp. on an 01...

I copied the hack that showed how to turn on the temp. readout in the tach, but the service department, who upgraded from the PST2, said that they were unable to turn this feature on on 01's or later. The comment was something to the effect; "Porsche heard about the workaround and defeated this crack."

Have you heard otherwise?

Jim

.....I'm on my fourth Mercedes which seems like it was made by people who seem to sense that; even if THEY know better: there are some things non-auto engineers want, even if it's only puffery in their opinion.

This 01-S seems to be made by former boarding school headmasters. If the temp is already there; why the F__ not turn it on?! You got almost $60k for the car for Cris-sake!?

Thumbs down

Don't get me started on German engineers! I was changing a battery the other day in a M3 and geez, the work invovled to get this thing out. "Hey, lets tuck it in the fender well in the trunk, you know, they NEVER go bad!"

What a turd those guys can be.

On the other hand, try taking out a headlight lense in a Lexus SC400. First, you have to take the front wheel off............................

Well, you get the picture!

Hi, Jim. I have a '01 2.7 Tip and my local dealer activated the OBC in about 2 minutes with the PST2. Later, I installed the "OBC hack" to get the temp. and mileage readouts.

I followed the instructions in this link: http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/obc/
