Mine had the same dent so I called Suncoast (where it was purchased) and they confirmed it is supposed to be there. No big deal. No one will ever see it and it does not affect he functionality in any way.

The installation is pretty straightforward. It just bolts up where the old one came out. I struggled a bit with the the two upper bolts but that was because I didn't want to take the bumper off. I also tossed all the vacuum and electrical hookups for it. They open and shut the bypass valves at certain speeds. With it open all the time it is plenty quiet at lower rpm's.
