/congrats on your new car! There are a couple of ball joints (one on each side) that connect the top frame with the mechanism that raises and lowers the top. The ball joints are plastic and fail. Cheap fix!

Wish it were that easy. One of the ball joints has snapped off, taking part of the top frame with it.

I have a thread in Boxster general discussions seeking advice on that.
