where did you tap the power for this? mine just arrived today, and the lack of visual aids has me head scratching as to where best tap the constant power needed. Any suggestions/input you may care to share? Now that 4 years have passed, any thoughts/feedback on the device?

I don't have any info about the unit, but for tapping into 12v in that area, I like to use the phone connection. This thread covers it pretty well and Burg Boxster's post shows which wire to use.
