Drone is caused by fitting a muffler that weighs significantly less than the OE muffler. Unlike most cars, the Boxster muffler is suspended by the same mounts as the motor and transmission, and they are simply "tuned" to the original weight.

I'd be fairly certain a little gutting of an OE muffler won't make much difference in terms of weight.

My exhaust system is 17 lighter than stock and I have no drone. My muffler does have a crossover pipe though.

Drone has nothing to do with weight, nor how it's mounted. "...tuned to the original weight..." c'mon man.... how gullible are you, really?
