Boxster OBC harness (Switch)
removed - accidental post

PM sent, I'm interested if you are still doing them

I purchased a nice 2001 Base Boxster just about a year ago. The OBC and Cruise Control were not activated. I recently picked up a re-conditioned Durametric Pro from Durametric. Very impressive and powerful tool.
I plan to hack the OBC and Cruise Control modules. I currently just have the 2-stalk switches on my steering column (i.e. wipers and turn signals); I will remove the 2 stalk switch and install the 4-stalk version. I know some folks use a panel mounted rocker switch for the OBC, but I like the OE look with the switches on the steering column. I have contacted Dwight about purchasing one of his quality wiring harnesses for the OBC. I will make the Cruise harness myself. Apparently there is an excellent guide to the OBC hack that was written by Joeisf (sp). Does anybody have a link, or a copy, to his hack instructions? That would be much appreciated. Thanks. |
The Pelican website has a DIY also. I could not get to the link you speak of. I am also getting ready to do this hack and got the harness from Dwight. I am also doing the intermittent wiper hack, and the dash mounted rear wing switch, and 996 gauge cluster upgrade

Still making these harnesses?
|
PD I have a 2002 S with 3 stalk and have purchased a 4 stalk setup. I plan on removing the 4th stalk from the one I purchased and adding it to my existing 3 stalk. I would like to purchase whatever the correct harness is to do the conversion. You can PM me the details and I will Paypal the funds. Thank you
|
Yes...sorry for the delay
I am still making the OBC harness assemblies. They look better than the ones that came factory. Right now production is running about 4 to 5 days before I can get you one in the mail. The current cost including shipping is $48 paypaled or you can send me a check. Let me know before you paypal me money....having problems with those folks.
or you can contact me at pdwight@att.net Thanks Dwight |
Dwight I sent you an email .

I want to post a follow up to my buying experience with Dwight . I purchased one of his cables about three weeks ago, he's in AL. and I am in Georgia. He sent me an email letting me know when he shipped. Over a week went by and nothing showed up in the mail. I sent Dwight an email letting him know it had not arrived. We agreed to wait three more days and I should get back to him. Three days went by and no cable showed up. He made up another one and shipped it out immediately. Guess what happened ? Both cables showed up on the same day ! It was obvious the first cable shipped sat in a post office somewhere for a long time without being looked at or moved. The bottom line of my story is Dwight was/is a stand up guy that backed up the sale with a 2nd shipment, it was NOT his fault USPS messed up the 1st shipment. I have contacted Dwight and will be shipping one of the cables back so he can help someone else in the future.
Thanks Dwight  |
Thank you for the kind words
I always treat people the way I want to be treated, many of our follow Boxster enthusiasts have helped me with many projects with Tools, parts you name it. I think all this good Karma will come back to help us all.
Good luck with that install and let me know if I can help in any way Sincerely Dwight |
Confused about dash switches - 1 or 2?
Been reading a lot on this topic, and have found conflicting info as to the number of dash switches required.
Pelican tutorial says that two switches are required. But reading thru this thread, several folks mention using only one. Can someone please walk me thru this? For both cases, what happens, exactly, when the various switches are pressed? Which switch does what? Thanks - DM |
Switches
I have made many OBC harnesses for a single switch and a few for two switches. I have never installed anything but the 4 Stalk assembly but I can add some data. A single switch will only let you step through the various views.....Temperature , MPG etc
Two switches should let you emulate a 4 Stalk and set the speed gong and reset some options....personally the 4 Stalk assemble just is not that expensive and I would go with what looks factory. 4 Stalks come up quite often for sale for under $150 |
adding a switch like that, to the same location of the 4th stalk, can be also a very interesting option.
