Looks great. What kind of paint did you use? Did you paint the inside of the bezel, or outside? How did you remove the silver paint from the lens?

Nice work Heliguy. One thing however, you should swap that 'orange' Porsche emblem on the front hood for the silver emblem version. I know these aren't cheap but the match would be just perfect in my opinion. I have no idea why Porsche still today continues to put on orange (or gold) looking crest of their silver cars :/
Another thing that would be cool is you writing up (step-by-step) how you opened the headlight, but most importantly, how you sealed them back with what material/silicon etc. I did my headlights recently but my Frenchglish prevents me from doing a quality DIY on this.
Another guy did an excellent DIY on opening them but if my memory is good, he forgot to mention details RE how to seal them back together. If you could do a complete DIY on this that would be rock & roll buddy.
Also... when are you installing your Porsche part bodykit??????? that seems to take forever for some reasons. Like other members here I'm sure, I also can't wait to see your silver 986 with this installed

I kinda like the colored Porsche crest on the hood. There is already a write up on here wih photos and everything on how to open the headlights. Basically bake them in the oven on 220 degrees for about ten minutes then pry the lens off. I sealed them back using black RTV silicone.
The side skirts are painted and waiting in the garage for the hardware kit to arrive in the mail. That didn't come with the side skirts.

Nicely done. I had always wondered what it would look with to have the guts painted black. I contemplated it while I had my assembly apart.

There's really no drawback, Mikesz. Just an investment of time and the cost of high temp paint and RTV silicone.

Hi Heliguy, I am also in the process of installing projectors on my Boxster. I have one question regarding the headlight lens. How did you paint the bezel around the headlight lens black. Did you remove the silver paint? If so, what is the best way to do that?
I have a black car, so I really would like to change to bezel color the black.
Thanks

It's not paint...I applied black automotive vinyl wrap to the outside of the lens. It was a long process of cutting and fitting, spraying with soapy water, heating with a hairdryer, and smoothing out the bubbles.

Great look. And I agree with you that the colored crest looks great on silver.
