1999 Tiptronic Daily Driver

SOLD

Here's your opportunity to have an inexpensive Boxster that you can enjoy for daily use.

This is the car that forum member Retroman1969 bought and used for 2+ years as his high mile daily driver, putting about 30,000 miles on a year for his work and touring ghost towns. I purchased the car in July, when we thought it needed a new transmission. What I found was many minor problems compounding to make it drive poorly. I can detail what I did to it if you are interested, but in short, it now runs and drives great and has no issues left for me to tinker with. That means that it's time for me to focus on another car and find a suitable new home for this one.
This car has seen some use and has stories to tell, but it is far from dead.

Asking $4,800
1999 Tiptronic, Arctic Silver with Nephrite Green leather interior.
175,500+ miles.
Exterior:

Paint is in good condition with few minor dents and scrapes shown in the pictures.
Tires have over 75% tread.
Lights all function well, headlight inner lenses have some burn.
Top and windows function properly, rear window has some light haze that could be polished out.
Interior:
Aftermarket Kenwood stereo with BT, USB, and Line-in.
Leather is in good condition with no cracks or cuts, There are a few minor stains and a spot on the dash where the leather has lifted a bit.
On Board Computer with stalk, but no cruise control.
Climate control is good with heat and cold AC.
Horn works.
Summary:
Has some minor flaws from age and wear, but everything works as is should.

*One issue left that I intend to take care of, but have not completed: There is a crack at the edge of the windshield from where a wiper arm chipped it. My local glass shop does not have one available and suggested I go to a Safelite Auto Glass about an hour away. The crack is limited to the outer edge of the winshield and I didn't notice it until after I'd had the car for about a month. Doesn't 'need' to be fixed, but isn't right. Asking $4,500 until I get this taken care of.

So post or pm a comment, question, or offer. I usually check the forum a couple times a day at least.

I'm expecting to sell it locally, but posted here in case anyone is looking. I'm happy to work with a shipper, or drive it to meet someone in Northeast Oklahoma or NW Arkansas (time permitting). The nearest place for a (Porsche specialist) PPI is about an hour drive (Tulsa).

Update:
I have it listed it on Craigslist now at $4,500 and don't plan to replace the windshield unless a buyer requests it (and not for $4,500).

1999 Porsche Boxster

also...

There may or may not be a Check Engine Light for the SAI.

TMI:
The check engine light came on and it shows DTCs P0410 and P1411. That's the Secondary Air Injection System not functioning properly. Very common, and dreaded in locations that have a smog check requirement for cars. Really a non-issue in Oklahoma other than knowing that isn't quite right. The system blows ambient air into the exhaust manifold for about a minute after a cold start to reduce initial CO emissions. The system does not effect anything other than emissions for a cold start and is not even installed on cars sold outside the USA. I had already cleared the codes about a month ago by replacing the vacuum check valve. I suspect that the cause now is coking and blockage of the air passages at the exhaust manifold. Considering my price-point and market, I determined that it is not worth fixing. I did re-check all the associated vacuum hoses and replaced an elbow that might have had a slight leak. I reset the codes and as of now the check engine light is off, but I suspect it is only a matter of time until it comes back.

SOLD
