looks like my August 06 memory was bad, it wasn't the second heaviest of the bunch.... it was the second least powerful engine, second only to the Jag XK.
The merc SL550 was voted #1

oh and it was a BMW 650i

The 911 Cab in a Tip is a perfect chick car.

p.s.
I wouldn't drive the Merc even if you offered it to me for what I payd for my BoxsterS. Maybe the worst pedals I've ever used in a car. Who drives like that??

1) the 911 rear seat is pretty useless, moreso in the cab. Makes a nice parcel shelf I guess.
2) Not sure what wheels are on the Sl, but make sure you test drive those 18/19" 997 wheels on those "smooth" NY roads
3) 911 sits a bit lower than the SL.. not sure how old the "mom" is, but it might be a pain getting into the car
4) Is a 997C4, cab, w/tip really less money than a 500sl?
5) Post some pics once its "home"

Well, w/ options, I'm sure a 911 could cost 115k+

Actually, a base c4 cab is 88k, + 3500 for tip makes it 91.5k. A new SL is 97k, so yes, it is less expensive.

Besides, I will push her to NOT get tiptronic!!!

She is 48 but very healthy and very small.

An SL does sit very low actually, despite what you may think. Not sure how low, but it has adjustable suspension.

I know the 911 seats are useless, but how many people do you think convinced their wives they could get 911s because of the rear seats? LOL

Not sure that is a good idea. Let her try it and make the decision. I just got a Tip in my '02 box and I am very impressed. To paraphrase Leonard Turner in Pano when the Tip S came out with the Boxster S -" Why not be able to get it right 90% of the time with the Tip and only 60% with the stick?" I admit I got the Tip because of my left leg but it does shift fast. I believe you want this car for you somehow and you prefer the stick, or am I losing my psycho touch?

LOL,

If you talked her out of a tiptronic, I'd change your phone number.
Rowing gears is not for Moms.

I agree with PL, she will hate rowing. Ya can't talk on the phone, drink Starbucks, and apply your make-up with a manny tranny!
