demonz,
If you don't give it a try, let me know and I might. I'm in the DFW area, so shipping wouldn't be necessary. |

I went for a while without checking in on the forum and missed the whole get-together, but I'd be up for another meet & greet.
I wondered if you had painted the rubber plugs or if you had found a different plug that paint would adhere to. I wasn't thrilled to find black rubber plugs when I first opened the box. I'm out of town this weekend, but could meet up next week sometime (that is if demonz hasn't raised his hand that he wants it. He did pipe in first) |

porsche986spyder, PM sent.
Thumper, Thanks for giving me first shot. |
No problem, if I'm anything it's fair.

I have a wing on my Boxster. I'm pretty sure it is for looks only and doesn't serve any practical purpose, but I'm glad it doesn't interfere with the stock spoiler ( and yes, it bolts to the trunk )

Pictures of the cracked wing/spoiler...
Okay, these are a little out of focus, but you can still see where the cracks started. I tried to fix them by filling them in and then resanding them back down smooth. After that, I just painted the lower bottom section flat black to cover up my work. About 2 months later it started to come through again in the same area on both sides. Before I re-installed it the second time, I even used 2 sets of rubber washers, 1 inside and 1 outside the wing between the contact of the metal shafts. That's 2 per side! They act like shock absorbers for the vibrations. But none of that still helped. It can still be fixed with some effort, but at this point, I just don't like any thing that bolts directly to fiber glass. This stuff is way to brittle. So buyer beware!

I wonder if someone made a spoiler wing kit like the on for the porsche cayman, if that would be equivalent to 1 Goodman worth of down force, maybe even 1 1/4 Goodmans.

Crack KILLS!
Found these today. These pictures were taken right after it started to crack and split. I removed it and tried to fix it, but it still came back. The fiber glass is just to thin there. You can clearly see how close it is to the bottom.

I was wondering if anybody ever got a price for the Gemballa style spoiler?

The stock spoiler doesn't put anywhere near John Goodman downforce on the rear. I remember reading it's around 30-50 lbs of downforce somewhere in Porsche literature.....and that's at very high speed not 60 mph. Apparently that's enough to break that wimpy aftermarket wing. I'm willing to bet the aftermarket wing generates even less downforce than the stock spoiler. The Gemballa unit looks pretty solid though.

In the manual it says 140KG, so roughly 300 LBs. Not 30-50. Im pretty sure the guys in germany know...

Well I ordered it!
After looking at how it looks on, I went ahead and ordered it tonight! Hehe... I'll keep ya'll updated as to any problems. First thing I'm going to to is TRY to break it off with bumpy-road driving fast + 120mph speeds. Wish me luck! I'll be doing this stuntwork SUPER late at night, like 3am down some freeway here. Hehe... :D
