To have to justify not giving a small gesture of good-will when given the opportunity is pretty messed up in my opinion.

+1 who doesn't have 'time' to wave back (even raise a finger)?

Either:

1. you didnt see them wave: then you really should pay more attention to other traffic in your vicinity. An old driving coach told me that I should notice every detail possible from the team logo on a baseball cap to a scratch on the front spoiler (N.B. if you genuinely didn't notice a wave then obviously this does not apply).

or...
2. you are choosing not to acknowledge: get off your high horse and play the game of life! Who doesn't need more friends? Who wants to disrupt the natural human tendancy to bond? I love it... or is it too much effort to waive a finger (I am sure you would do it if they cut you off

here is me trying to wave on the 986 board :insert wave smilie:

One time I waved at a Box and the contents revealed a stunning blonde whom was highly appreciative of my similar ride, and compliment. Stop car, exchange digits... done deal.

to all!

Since we overpsychoanalyze things here...

To me the whole "waiving thing" is more of like an actual physical expression of one another driver who shares the same feeling with me. I do not think he or she does it because they think "oh look we both have porsches cool!!!!", I see it more of the lines "Yeap, I've been there too."

I do not find anything wrong to it, I do not consider him a complete stranger either as that feeling is enough for me to relate. Technically, he is still a stranger but not as much as the person walking next to you when you walk downtown.

I dont usually waive but I might, depending on the mood of course. If they do waive at me and I see it I will waive back.

I dont quite see the need to argue (*cough* MNBoxster and Bavarian Motorist*cough*) about a literally less than one second interaction.

MNBoxster, each one of us here I believe chose the corresponding car just for themselves and not because of a community or a forum. However, just like sports teams when you support one (read Porsche) you are part of it. You might not want to be but you are. Please, if you tell me you dont feel you are, well there is nothing you can do about it because you cannot control that stranger across you that waives at you because he or she thinks that you are part of it. What you can do and you seem to do it is really just not waive. What I am trying to say is that I wouldn't blame others for doing it and especially just because you dont feel this "team-spirit" they should not.

They could give you the same engine and handling and Yugo badge but that won't happen. Afterall, it is missing the Porsche badge.

yep, that's why i bought mine. this forum was secondary.

ever since college, my quest began. i even test drove other cars (mustang - too loud, 350 z - my 2nd choice, 330ci bmw - not enough ponies, m3 bmw - drove like a wooly sewing machine?!?!?) but no other accelerator pedal got my blood rushing like the porsche badge.

'nuff said!
