Best .52 mod ever better look...

The only reason it cost anything was due to replacing the brass ferrell on the boost line. My cell takes crappy pics when its dying but you get the idea. It took me about 2 hours to fab up the plate, paint it and install the gauge. I was inspired by another board member. I put it in the middle so I can add two other gauges on the sides once I figure out which ones I want to install.

that looks nice, color of the gauge matches nicely, do you have gauge rings on ur cluster?

funny to see something small like that to say this: you just lost 50% of ur storage LOL, well kinda

ohioboxster 01-03-2007 03:30 PM

Thanks, I dont have the trim rings yet. I couldnt decide wether to get rid of the cd storage or the tiny area under it. Nice thing is the gauge piece can just be moved up if I change my mind about placement, jury is still out on that one.

As a Porsche owner I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for not putting that gauge in a pillar pod.

djomlas 01-03-2007 07:31 PM

if theres one thing i hate its the pillar pod and blue or any other color glowing gauges on the side, yuk

Hi,

Personally, I don't like the look. Suggest you try the following product... ;)

Let me guess, you prefer it OG style. http://www.tagyerit.com/antiques/gauge3.jpg

Maybe he should grow out a moustache, put some black steel wheels on, and wear a derby hat whenever he scoots around town. But I dont think he has enough room for his victrola to fit in his car. Oh well...

Hi,

No one asked you to guess, just expressing my opinion, maybe different than yours, so what? Can you handle that...??

So... monitoring your boost pressure is a ricer modification?

I suppose Porsche are ricers for installing a water temperature gauge in the factory cluster. :p

ohioboxster 01-04-2007 04:06 AM

What can I say? Some people use octane boost I use Uncle Bens.

Hi,

Not at all. A Boost Gauge is useful, but not when it's mounted on the floor. On the floor, it could even be said to be unsafe because it is a dynamic gauge, you have to be looking at it when the boost is being produced for it to have any value. This takes the Driver's eyes off the Road at a time when the car is under boost and therefore supposedly going fast.

The Boost Gauge on my Lotus Esprit is right dead-center on the Instrument Binnacle (see below) as is the OEM Porsche Boost gauge. At this location is it useful and safe. A gauge mounted on the floor is superfluous, there for the Bling. Bling, IMHO, can equate to ricer...

I took your advice and revamped my dash a little. You were so right that single boost gauge was so bling and outrageous.

Randall,

Good call, I moved the gauge up one level into the cd storage spot and reclaimed my tiny area of storage.

hey ohio, I was thinking that my brother's Z3 has three dials in the center like that, the middle dial is a clock....kind of cool.....not sure how it would look in the box but it fits nicely in the Z3

Dr. Kill 01-04-2007 01:02 PM

An altimeter might go well too.

ohioboxster 01-04-2007 01:03 PM

You mean something like this? Is this a factory set up? I know it needs a gauge on each side. I will probably go with oil pressure and possibly temp.

that's the ticket! that is pretty factory....pretty much what his looks like.....I really thought his clock was the middle though....I'll look at it tonight.....I think that pic is of an M so maybe its a little diff
