ABS light after battery reinstall and car died

Really hoping someone has dealt with this before. MY2000 base. I don’t drive it a lot, backup/summer car type thing. No issues prior to this with the car. Anyway, had a dead battery from sitting, I full charge it (newer yellow optima), take it out for a spin, “ABS” light is on immediately. Googling says “just drive it”. (Pic is of my scanner which read that code even with abs light OFF)

Next day, I take it on a much longer drive. Magically light goes off on its own after several stop signs and spirited accelerations. Once it stayed off for a while I head home feeling pretty happy. For one last test, as I’m pulling into my neighborhood (very rural), I slam on the brakes to see how abs behaves. Braking worked fine, but as I’m turning, cluster lights up everything and car dies (could barely tell it turned off).

Luckily I was able to key off and restarted just fine and I made it home with no issues, and no cluster lights came on. Battery voltage read 12.7v and 14+ in driveway when I got home.

What the heck is going on with the car and what caused it to die like that? Certainly nerve racking to think car will just randomly die now if I brake or something.
