Towing a flat battery Boxster

A dilemma!
I have a flat battery so can’t open the frunk to charge it. If I can’t open it via a battery booster I may have to get the car towed to a local dealer but the towing eye is also in the frunk. Question: will a towing eye from my 2013 Audi A6 fit the Boxster?

Probably, with both being VAG cars. But have tried the release cable. Look in your manual for location.

Try applying 12VDC to the cigarrette lighter plug, this should allow you to open the frunk.

Note: Don't use a battery charger as a power source, because it will not work, it is best to use the battery from another car with the jump cables connected to the lighter adapter.

Good luck!

I really would not be trying to connect a high amperage source (battery) to the cig lighter, the wires in the dash are too thin to carry the load. Use the pull out in the fuse panel and use a suitable ground connection.

I'd definitely try hooking up another car battery to the cig lighter to JUST pop the trunks. I would NOT use it to jump start the car BUT JUST to energize the electrical system it can't damage anything.

JUST DON"T TRY TO START THE CAR....just pop the trunk.

It is still a bad idea. When you connect a functional 12V battery to the cig lighter, the full amperage output of the battery is instantly available to any draw sources active in the vehicle, over which you have no control, not just the trunk release. The wiring through the fuse panel is much more stout and able to deal with a momentary high amperage spike if one occurs.............

Any towing device with a thread Rd 20 x 1/8 will work.

I guess latter models have electronic frunk releases; not cable?

If you're concerned about using the cigarette lighter (that's what I'd do); then you can always take the firewall panel off and access the alternator. You can put all kinds of amps through that wire.

Have you tried the hidden frunk release behind the passenger front tire wheel liner?
