Recently I was doing some research to upgrade the muffler on my 2001 986 2.7L and got quite annoyed that I really couldn’t find much solid information anywhere — especially from the vendors, yes, Pelican included. I understand this might not be the most popular Porsche on the planet, and I get that it’s coming up on 30 years old, but still… it was frustrating.
So I’m posting this for anyone in the future who might want to do the same upgrade. Hopefully this helps alleviate the struggle of finding proper info, specs, and part numbers.

" Thanks for your inquiry regarding the 94.331S. This has been discontinued in May 2025 – due to low sales. This version is “identical” to the 94.330SEXP, except from the tail pipes. This is also deleted from range due to low sales.
We can currently offer:
Pressed OEM look muffler box
1620605200 - 94.330S (25% increase in sound compared to OEM) SPORT
1620600100 – 94.335S (10% increase in sound compared to OEM) STOCK
Both are supplied with dual 80mm tailpipes but one can upgrade to dual 95mm tailpipes by purchasing: 1620704000 - 94.905S
The “banana shape” mufflers are produced on same basis – same insides, only external brackets and tail pipes are different – BUT these provide the best (loudest) sound experience.
Summary:
1620605200 - 94.330S (20% increase in sound compared to OEM) SPORT – OEM style, dual 80mm tips/upgrade to dual 95mm tips
Muffled, deeper sound due to large capacity box.
1620602800 - 94.310S (35% increase in sound compared to OEM) SPORT – Aftermarket, dual 76mm tips
1620602900 - 94.301S (35% increase in sound compared to OEM) SPORT – Aftermarket, single oval 155x83mm tip
More throaty and sporty pitchy sound due to less area inside box.
