i think that if you want to make a boxster better lookinf you should do this:
exhaust for better sound
wheels and some fat tires
lower it
tint the windows
black out the talights
deamber if not done already
out a black cap on and black some metallica LOL
and do that ricer lean while driving with one hand sitting all low
me personally, i dont think its a girly car, its just another porsche, and a very valuable porsche that IMO saved the company

Respectfully, that's pretty faint praise.
It's the Porsche that FINALLY got it's engine put in the proper place!
IMHO, it, along with the Cayman should be the premier cars of the brand, going forward.

The best response when someone says "You drive a girl's car!" is simply "What do you drive?". Everyone who has made that comment swears their Civics,Integras,Mustangs,TT's,CRXs and Accord are no.1.......I see where the idea come from though, small car, small engine. It's fine, people poke fun at what they are jealous of.

Manly it up? I think the Boxster is a fine sportscar as is. Sure, it has a reputation or stigma of being a 'hairdressers' car...
... but then, I don't care what other people think. When I lose them in fast turns without missing a beat... they can kiss my... dust.
Except, if you'll notice, this is my first post, and I don't actually have a Boxster yet. I found one I like and will probably be going to check it out on Friday. If all is well, I'll be pulling the trigger, and will have a Porsche not only as a project (1969 911 Targa in the garage), I'll have one as a daily driver, too.

Travis, I don't need no gun rack. Just driving around and waiving my S&W 9mm around over my head seems to cause everyone to say, "That's a fine car you have there, SIR."
Ah, there are a few benefits to living in the great state of Texas.

You got that right, Randall. I need to get off my butt and get my CHL. The ONLY drawback I can really see to my impending purchase of a Boxster is that a couple (if not MOST) of my rifle cases won't fit in the trunks. Oh well, I could get a roof rack or rear rack to deal with that.

In Texas you could paint it desert camo and mount a 20mm on the hood. Then those Ford F350 4X4 diesel rigs would get outta your way in a hurry.

I have had two people make negative comments like "why didn't you buy a 911?"
Both of these guys ride the BUS.
People who own nice cars will almost never make a negative comment.

If you want it to be more manly, Learn how to drive it. Skip Barber 3 day racing school comes to mind.

I find it annoying on a number of levels that people out there insinuate that a Boxster is "girly" or "a lesser Porsche."
As many of stated here, it's a fine automobile for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to:
1) It's a Porsche, whether 911 lovers like it or not
2) It handles like a dream; few cars can match it; that's a fact
3) It ranges from quick to pretty darn fast, depending on your year and whether or not you have an S
4) It saved Porsche; that's a fact
5) The Cayman is based off of it, which is another worthy Porsche
I gotta admit, I'd take a 911 Turbo or maybe a Carrera 4S over my Boxster, but I'd also be spending $65,000-$95,000 to buy one used. My Boxster used cost me just over $30,000

Hi,
All very true except for #4 - the Fact that it saved Porsche. Since it's introduction, the Boxster has never outsold the 911 in any given year and while it may have added some net sales, it also undoubtedly skimmed off some (maybe even a significant number) sales of 911s because it was a pure roadster and because it was cheaper. The moneymaker which pulled Porsche back from the abyss was the Cayenne...
Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
