Any help is appreciated...

'03 Boxster with headlight not working. When light switch in parking mode both headlights are dimmed. When in light on position, passenger side will not light up. When full beam on, both driver/passenger working.

Most obvious fix... change the bulb. Did that, issue not resolved. Scratching my head how the issue could still remain. Thoughts anyone?

The headlight switch is famous for going bad. So is the wiring in the headlight assembly.

you can check these 2 fuses. posted this on a thread i have with misc information but these 2 are only labeled side markers but actually effect both the taillights and headlights operability. i would suggest checking the headlight switch but it seems to be operating according to your words

Assuming halogen lights, right? b/c xenons use one bulb but a sliding lens so if out on low out on high.

Problem remains as me thinks still bulb and you changed incorrect bulb (3 in pod are same H7 but contrary to thought... low beam bulb is up high, high beam bulb low, and fog is inset).

Dim light you see is "city light" (194 IIRC). Anyhow, here's quick test... rotate all h7 bulbs in pod by one position... doesn't matter clockwise or anti-clockwise. Problem likely will follow to rotated position one spot.

Report back findings and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the feedback. Halogen light and there's an indent to prevent installation issue. Will recheck it however to make sure its clamped correctly. If not, I suspect the switch is the next area to replace.

Sure, you can always remove said switch and with a bypass jumper wire connecting correct pins test and see if lights return to normal. But suspect after going thru that you'll be right back here.

To make crystal clear, RELOCATE (aka rotate to another socket) the h7 bulb from high beam to the fog, and fog's orig bulb to low beam. And finally low beam to high beam. Plug all back in again and I'm gonna say dollars to donuts the light no longer working will be the.... high beam. (You could just do the high to low and low to high but since you're having fun... ).

a stupid question, but isn't the H7 base built in such a way that it only fits in one orientation? So a 360° rotation would be pointless...?

He is suggesting rotating the bulbs into the various sockets in the headlight

It appears you state that only one headlight works on low beam and both work on high beam.

First suggestion is burned out bulb. The bulbs are unique between low and high, although same H7 spec, of which there are four.

Using hard to follow language, it's suggested moving a known good bulb to the connector now connected to the non working bulb. A good suggestion.

It's been the German standard for decades that the wire to the bulb for low beam is yellow and the wire to the bulb for high beam is white. Ground is always brown.
