Based on research, claims oil in gas can be common if car isnt driven much, and vapors will burn off once driven longer drives. I drive it short distances most of the time, about 1-3 times a week. Sometimes started just to move it out of garage. Wondering if that is the issue. If car didnt run so perfectly once warm, i would be more concerned. I do plan to change oil anyway.

I really feel gas isnt burning properly at warm up and some might be getting down into oil, but should evaporate once driven.

What would be causing the pops during warm up???

Also, car just passed emissions a couple weeks ago, and the car has been doing this for months.i just noticed the gas smell in the oil fill cap when i removed the plate there to check my coolant bleeder valve, since i had some condensation on rear deck lid.
