headlight help - a part needed

Good day, all. I'm in the middle of doing a halogen to LED conversion on my 03 Base Boxster, using the RetrofitLabs kit. The first one is done and came out great. While disassembling the second one, I broke the black plastic ball that's attached to the back of the headlight bucket.

I'm going to try to plastic weld it back together today, but I'm not incredibly confident that will work.

If anyone has a headlight assembly lying around and is interested in selling it off or in parting it out, i'd be interested.

Thanks,
Tom C

Which side did you break? I have a spare set, but some of the plastic bits are also broken.

If redpepperracing doesn't have the part, I'd recommend messaging 'JBauer' on the forum. He has pretty much become the headlight guy here and probably has some scrap parts on hand.

I can probably pick a degraded headlight to take apart if Bauer or red' can't get it for you.

It’s from the left side, but I believe that the same piece is used for both. It is the little black piece, with a ball on it, which is attached to the back of the headlight bucket. I can’t seem to figure out how upload a picture here from my mobile (out of town, no computer).

Thanks…

You guys are awesome! I will reach out to JBauer.

Here's what the part looks like and where it goes. I'm holding the ball in place.

More informative than helpfull: Porsche officially released (TÜV-approved) H7 LED bulbs.
Plug'n'Play for the halogen headlights. Although not quite as bright as Litronic xenons, but close.

They might be a replacement for the H7 high beams in the Litronics as well, need to check on that still.

Good to know, thanks Bran! Interesting that they don't appear to have any type of ballast or resistor. Part number is PCG631137H if anyone is interested.

@tom I do have the part you are looking for, but it looks like I have to completely disassemble the headlight, not sure when I can get to that, if JBauer has one handy, he would probably be able to get it to you quicker than I can, but I need to do the work anyway as I need the wiring harness for my other headlights.

That is good to know about!

Not the solution for every application, but low mileage cars should be able to take advantage of this.

In my case, the 21+ year, 188k mile, halogen lenses are burned and cracked, so these would have been like putting lipstick on a pig.

Thanks! I sourced a headlamp assembly for eBay and am waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully I will be able to extract the piece without trashing it!

I will certainly follow up here.
