holy cow
Boy, where to begin.
Bruce lee, once again please don’t delete this. You’d only be fueling pot-stirrers of polical correctness. I agree with everything you say about hyphenated racial characteristics in addressing race in this country. It doenst matter. In fact I find it ridiculous. But just remember the thread started with this:
This story involves 4 cop cars, a fence jump, 3-4 african americans with a possible gun, a light pole, and last but not least, my porsche. Just need some drugs content and a few females and this could be a block buster movie.
Followed by this:
Hummm African Americans involved in a crime..are you sure? according to Reverend Al they don't do such things, they just get bad press from the Po Po.
Followed by this:
I am sure they were just fine young men who wanted to possess something the white man stole from their ancestors. Thousands of years ago they were all kings and queens who probably had their own car very similar to today's Porsche.
Then Grizz posted this:
This thread is well on its way to being deleted by the forum Police. Please be careful gentlemen, so I can learn what actually happened to the car.
Followed by a modicum of reason by this:
wow who cares what colour they were, and where they came from and where they went......not one of you asked the guy if he was okay! hope you are okay vijen6, don't worry about the car, it can be fixed. please do fill us in. looks like some guys tried to steal the ride, but also seems like they got caught.
Grizz then opined that we need the facts. But I submit that it doesn’t even matter. Who cares if his white porsche was destroyed by the criminal agency of black men? Is his car any less damaged? No.The point is: who is the progenator of hyphens and color/race on this thread? Obviously race still matters to some. Hell, they damaged his car!!!
Finally, after all the debate, hoopla, anger and stats, we still heard this:
4 angry 'african american' dressed in 'gangster thug' style road raging. Trying to run me off the road. Possible gun in the back. I'm by myself. **************** that.. ……The ranking officer on scene sat on me on the sidewalk like I was a Mexican about to be deported.
I find this incredulous, but hey, the RX/Mustang/Rvand other dotcoms have gotta be laughing about who really lurks in the dark corridors of 986 Forum.
Finally, let me quote Grizz: I'm very disappointed. . . .
I’ll leave this dead horse to be beaten. . . . .. .

So what we have here is a group of black men attacked a white forum member while he was harmlessly driving around in his Porsche. That seems to be an accurate description of the events and I see no reason why we should not describe it as such.
Problem is you cannot say the truth anymore because you might offend the gangster blacks, the Canadians (especially the humorless french ones) or even the Cubans which is incredibly ironic since Cubans openly distinguish themselves from one another by about 10 different shades of pigmentation.

These posts are fascinating, so many point of views and ways of describing an event.
I have to say, if I saw four young men dressed in "gangsta" style clothing in a large SUV motioning ME to stop, I would NOT do so and assume the worst; better to be safe than sorry. So, I live and I MIGHT be assuming guilt where there is none. So be it.
Again to me, it is not the skin pigment, it is the total package. Guys who dress in "gangsta fashions" simply give me the whillies and make me want to find a better place to be. White, black or tan pigment, I am out of there when the rest of the package is present.
If four guys in Brooks Brothers suits motioned to me, I might feel totally the other way. Likely I would.
Does that make me a "clothes bigot?" I think so. It also is driven by my survival instincts which try to alert me to when there is danger, when there is not.
Do men who where this garb statistically represent a greater degree of danger. I THINK so, if you believe the news reports we see every day.
Lastly, what is fascinating is that virtually every news report of crime in the USA starts with the color of the suspects skin, ie, four white men or four black men were arrested today. They COULD just say four teenagers or four men in their twenties, etc. but they don't.
Could it be that the news media are closet bigots? Or, just reporting the more obvious elements of how you describe someone to the police for example?
What say you, are we being LED to this type of communication by our news media types?

I think they are fascinating too because it brings out the closet racists At least now I know who I'm dealing with...I don't judge anyone for crossing the street when they feel threatend. Good for them and everyone else for staying alive. I judge people by the disparaging comments that they make.
And I have no issues with the use of African-American. My issue is the comments that were made, but you lose some you win some.
And to vijen6, for this comment "The ranking officer on scene sat on me on the sidewalk like I was a Mexican about to be deported" I am completly thrilled you wrecked your car. And I'm glad the officers didn't believe your story as it is totally unfounded and you maybe were just drunk driving. Too bad you didn't knock some sense into your head when you hit the pole
Got to love the free expression! Learn something new everyday.

Super66, if I offended you with my comment, i apologize.
I was merely trying to describe my feeling at the time. My obvious embarrassment. Perhaps it was not express with the best choice of words, or perhaps your brand of humor is not the same as mine.
Lets drop the topic of race all together.
I'll make another topic to seek help on bumper fitments and such.
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THEIR KIND WORDS AND CONCERN!!
Its much appreciated.
