Belly pans
I call them belly pans, Porsche calls them splash shields or underside covers. Whatever you call them, anyone happen to have either a photo or a diagram of the various parts fastened in place, i.e., installed underneath? These are the parts:

What is your situation, are they missing? Not installed? I could post a picture of the covers leaning against a wall in the garage.
My experience is that they are always damaged, usually missing the tabs where the mounting hardware connects them to the car. I have fixed several, but they are always the last thing installed after doing other work... cause you always have to go back there to do something... like trace an oil leak.

Looking at the above diagram again I can give you some tips. The rear of the car is to the right. The fastener #8 attaches to the engine mount, so that panel is under the engine. The covers are not to scale, #19 is relatively smaller and goes under the driver's door (left hand drive). #4 hooks into the front of the engine cover #5 and #1 hooks into the front of #4. Once you get them approximately in place you will see the mounting points for the fasteners.

I have the panel # 5 on the diagram (rear most) in pristine condition, it was left from my 987CS. If you or someone needs it, it's free, just pick it up or pay for shipping.
.
PS: I can look for the P/N to ensure compatibility's

Thanks for the info, folks. It was a great help. I also ran across this video tour of the underside that shows all the belly pans in place:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0dEXoWRCi8
I knew I'd strike pay dirt if I kept on chipping away at it.
Main pan, front:
Small pan, rear:
Before I removed the two pans I snapped photos of them similar to these, and then somehow accidentally deleted them. "No problem," sez I. "It should be fairly obvious where they go." Famous last words. I felt like a prize sap. Anyway, thanks to you guys' contributions and this video tour, I'm golden.

Man alive! I wish I'd seen this before I ordered a new one from eBay seller 5150motorsport yesterday. It's a genuine Porsche part, but it set me back $204. Yours would've been a lot cheaper, even with shipping. In any case, the original had been through the mill, with pieces missing.
BTW, Mike of 5150motorsport is a good guy and quite knowledgeable.about Porsches. He was a big help when I decided the 986's front end looked bare without a license plate, and so I ordered a bracket and spacers from him. (And instead of a 15-minute job putting it on, it turned out to be an ungodly thrash due to the wrong mounting screws supplied with the kit, Porsche's fault, not Mike's. The right screws did the trick.)

If it's 986 504 119 00, I would be interested! The panel on my 03 failed completely years ago and I've never gotten around to doing anything about it...

Perhaps a local Boxter owner could stop by to ensure fit..? Please check and let me know

Thanks. Looks like that part fits 2005-2008 Boxsters, so not a good match for my 2003… oh, well. Thanks for taking a look!

Front belly pan installed. When I first attached it I found that several 10mm plastic nuts were nearly stripped and at least two of the six metal clips were missing the tangs that secure them. That kind of thing drives me crazy, so I bought a whole new set from 5150motorsport, for about twenty bucks. Then I replaced the existing fasteners, one by one. The large front belly pan itself was perfect, no missing pieces, cracks, or blemishes of any kind, and a once-over with plastic restorer before I installed it made it look almost new. Together with the new fasteners and the brand-new genuine Porsche rear belly pan that's on its way, my 986's underside will be squared away.
