Engine noise when decelerating

Can you try to get a video of the sound? Would be more helpful in diagnosing. To be honest a popping sound when you accelerate could be a worm engine mount bushing and as the engine moves on acceleration you get metal on metal popping. But that wouldn’t continue after I wouldn’t think. Does it sound like it’s coming from the engine crankcase? Or do you feel it more in the suspension?

If it’s something with your timing chain tensioners a good way to check is to examine your oil filter. Little specs of brown plastic in the filter mean you’re due for a pad replacement. I was able to do myself but it’s a hell of a job. TTGator has a great video to walk you through it.
