End of My Boxtser Era

Well it finally happened today. My 2003 Boxster S is sold and on its way to Minnesota with its new owner. Some of you may recall I decided to by a new Cayman GT4 last February. With supply chain issues, the Ukraine war and a RoRo vessel full of VW product and Porsches that caught fire and sank, the estimated June delivery date slipped and it finally arrived at the dealer on August 30th and was delivered to me on September 4th. With everything going on there was always the possibility in my mind that the GT4 might not arrive, so I decided not to sell my 2003 Boxster S until after I got the new car.

I owned this car for just over 19 years, and while I love the new car, I'll miss the Boxster. I learned a lot about the car being a member here and lots of members here have helped me with parts and projects. There are so many folks to thank here, some still active members, and some no longer. These people come to mind immediately, but I'm sure there are others and I want to thank everyone.
78F350 (Jon, general advice and parts)
Ben006 (Ben, short shifter)
HuskerBoxster (general advice and great Wheeler Dealer and Mistress stories)
Itsnotanova (Woody, lots of parts)
Nine8Six (Fred, custom projector headlights and custom wheel center caps)
PDwight (Dwight OBC wire harness)
Particlewave (assembling and accident repair of my Nine8Six headlights)
THStone (Thom, great Spec Boxster blog thread and we met in LA at the Petersen Museum)
Anyway, I'll still pop in from time to time.

I'm going to miss your wit, sarcasm, sharp tongue, and 330A wake up comments.

Wait, that's me!

You will be missed... and maybe you can poke in once in a while.

Rule #1. Where's a pic of the GT?

All good things must come to an end. Wow, 19 years is impressive. I bought my 2001 S used 11 years ago, time flies. Enjoy your new Cayman GT4 but yes, we need pictures!

Congratulations! Both on the sale of the 986 and the arrival of your GT4.

It's always sad to see an old friend head down the road to their new home, but time moves on. Best of luck with your new GT4. Enjoy it in good health. Don't save it for the next owner.

And thanks for the encouragement through many tough projects on The Mistress. My new 928 hasn't been as needy. Timing belt coming maybe next mo as I currently let my cc cool off.

Thanks guys. Rest assured I will be driving it, not saving it for the next owner. I did a pretty good job with the Boxster, getting to 97,601 miles before selling. I've already broken in the engine and did 2 HPDE's with the GT4, a 2 day one at NJMP Lightning in early October and a 3 day one at Virginia International Raceway, which is drive of over 500 miles to get to. I'll definitely be stopping by here from time to time. Here are some pictures of the GT4-

It looks like you have chosen well.

Now, update your signature and keep the story going.

Oh, man, that thing just looks some kind of competitive! I am envious...don't think I'm alone!

And yes, stick around! Boxsters, Caymans...close cousins!

That Is Fantastic!

It is so great that you could get this car. I understand the emotional tug of saying goodbye to the Boxster, which is why I'm keeping my 2001 for now even with getting the 2022 last month.

This has to be your "I dreamed for this" car before it even existed. You might turn into Mr. Sardonicus with a perma-freeze smile driving this.
