Broke this piece...
 

During my attempt to replace the AOS, I broke the breather hose this afternoon.

Part number: 996-107-14-755

How difficult is it to replace?
My baby is 2001 base.

difficult to replace, it's easy.

Getting access to replace it though, that is a whole different story. Both intakes have to be removed/moved around. It is very easy with the engine out. With it in....you wont ever want to do it again. Did it a year ago, was no fun.

How long did it take you?

a weekend.

I was able to patch the short AOS hose as shown in the post #7 of this thread

If the broken portion is accessible repair might be an alternative.
Note that this repaired hose has only been in my car for a couple of weeks but so far it seems to be working.

I usually cut the ends off and use a rubber hose. It's worked fine on my 3.4 boxster for 5+ years and my rally boxster for 2 years of racing

I replaced mine without removing the intake manifold, accessing the driver's side connector through the opening behind the seats, just be patient and take your time...

What kind of hose is that? Where can I buy one? How is the hose secured? :dance:

A rubber hose!?!? This is what came off. What size rubber hose would I need? How did you secure it?

Is there room to snake the breather tube from the opening behind the seats?
Do I have to remove anything to make room? Like alternator?

I was looking at your "So... I have this spare engine" thread and saw this picture in post #12. Is the red dotted line the breather hose? This one doesn't look like it goes under the passenger side manifold as mine does.

Nope that isnt it. Is that the crossover fuel hose between the fuel rails?

Well, if that is not it, I can't see how the breather tube can be replaced without removing the manifold. :ah:

It is possible. You dont need to remove it, but make sure it is loose. You do need to remove the crossover tubes though

Are the both manifolds easy to loosen and reattach? I read somewhere about manifold seals or sealant. I am not sure I have the skill set to loosen and reattach. I am leaning towards the idea of silicon or rubber hose 'extension' to I can drive the car to the mechanic. At least that will save me the towing. :)

Just drive it. Might not run great, but I would just drive it there.

Mike, to access the tube connector you have to reach between the power steering pump and the intake manifold (behind the driver) look inside with a flashlight, this is how I replaced mine and didn't remove the manifold (or loosen it), however I remember that it was not a fun job..

The accordion plastic hose is heat shrink wrapped onto the fitting. Take a razor to where it goes over the fitting. Only cut far enough down to remove the tube and not down into the barbed fitting. Take the fitting to any automotive store that has rubber hoses and you should be able to find a size that fits. Don't use a thin walled rubber hose like a garden hose. Something with some meat to it. The hose you get should fit on snuggly to the fittings. I can't remember if I used hose clamps or not. 30 minute job tops

It shows that I did the same thing to the hose that goes from the AOS to the intake. Same principle.
