Now it's time to get it to a Porsche mechanic (someone very familiar with older boxsters and all the stuff that wears out prematurely, cracks due to poor manufacturing, and was supposed to be replaced under warranty) and have them check it over very carefully.

My $15k boxster, albeit with far more miles on it when I bought it, was a cheap car to buy and VERY expensive to own. I do hope this is not the case for you.

Jacksonville? you could have had an inspection done at Brumos.
Good luck with that, sounds like they were in a hurry to sell.
