head gasket thickness
Does anyone know the thickness of the oem MLS head gaskets? I think it is 0.040" but I'm hoping someone can confirm that.

Installed thickness on factory gaskets should be around 0.60MM; but they are available in other thickness from LN Engineering.

JFP, are these to compensate for a shaved head (to lower the CR)..?

Whenever you are rebuilding engines, you face having to either deck the heads, the engine case, or even both in order to get clean, parallel sealing surfaces. Decking the block brings the pistons higher in the bores, decking the heads shrinks the combustion chambers; so to compensate, you run thicker head gaskets to get back to the compression ratios that the DME is expecting for the ignition timing curves and knock controls to function correctly.

Are the LNE gaskets the same strength as the OEM?

The LN units I have seen were multi-layer steel, just like the factory.
