986 1999 throttle cable stretched?

Yesterday in traffic when I pressed down the accelerator pedal I noticed it moved a few millimeters freely until it engaged. Now it has some free play, seems like the cable has stretched. Is there a common failure point of the cable? The rear section looked perfectly fine when I put the engine in, so did the converter with the plastic roller that connects the rear and front sections. The pedal seems ok too.

I have read that there is an adjustment for slack at the right angle joint, bottom of the firewall. Maybe one of Woody's posts, maybe rennlist. I'll post if I find it.
Edit: Take a look at this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/boxster-cayman-forum/607597-non-e-gas-throttle-cable-adjustment.html
and this: https://rennlist.com/forums/spec-boxsters/802764-throttle-cable-adjustment.html#post11176707
...Still not the post I was looking for though.

Thanks, these are useful links . I`ll try to find some time to raise the car and take a look. Hopefully the cable won`t snap before that..
