Ignition Question

Hey everyone, I just joined. I bought my '98 Boxster 2 weeks ago and notice that when I start the car I have to turn the key a tad over to the left in order for the headlights to come and stay on (as well as the wipers to work). The previous owner told me about this and wanted to ask anyone who might have had this issue before. Is this just simply replacing my ignition switch? I've seen videos online on how to do it but wanted to make sure this would solve the problem or should i be doing something else? Just because I've noticed people replacing the switch are usually doing it because it's hard to turn the key or the car can't start. Mine is easy to start and doesn't get jammed or anything but still needs to be turned in order for the lights and wipers to work.
