That part is for a later car which is much different in size and layout to a 99.

IDK details but pretty sure you will need the correct aluminum dash support bar with the recess for the glovebox, and possibly new vent piping to fit the slightly different center stack vents as well...

I may have made a mistake with the part #996.552.211.03 is the other # associated with the part.

Aside from the dashboard/glovebox, you’d need the revised knee bar and (likely) the revised central air distributor (that attaches to the evap box, ducts otherwise appear identical in PET).

809-00 #8

The air distributor (813-01, #2) is likely due to the center vents changing for ‘03-04. If keeping the original vents it’s possibly not needed.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep the original vent if I can. Confused about the knee strip. The exploded view is not the updated strip I assume cause it doesn't have a cut to allow the glove box. There's an item on ebay pn# 996 552 191 01 which is the associated on with PET that looks as if it may just go on the left side allowing the cutout for the glovebox. Alternatively why can't I just cut the existing knee strip?V

Did the 99 come with a glovebox? If not, why do you want one?

Just an observation but the only things I have in my glove box are the manual and my registration papers. Not much room for anything else. Quite honestly I think you are taking on a lot of work and expense to put in a feature that is rarely used. If my 03 didn’t have one I wouldn’t miss it and I wouldn’t spend time, effort and money putting one in.

At least one of mine had a bracket under the dash for the manual and its leather case.

The knee bar on the ‘03-4 cars is two separate pieces. The part number list details the additions for #8 since they’re not pictured. I believe there is an additional bracket for the small section to provide additional stability.

It’s also a good time to check your blend doors and evaporator core.

OK so it looks like the pn#'s are:

996 552 191 01 Left knee strip
996 552 192 00 Right knee strip

If anyone can concur that would be great.V
