2001 Boxster Opening frunk without battery attached

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and I finally purchased my first Boxster last week.
2001 Arctic Silver - blue - blue. 33k miles. 2.7 5spd.

I had the ignition switch cause me problems my second time out with the car. I ordered a new switch and I disconnected the battery to do the replacement, and you probably know what happened next. I shut the frunk..........damn. This car has electronic hood release. Can anyone confirm if there is an emergency release under the drivers side inner wheel well plastic. I don't want to go fishing for it if it doesn't exist. I tried the fuse panel emergency terminal but of course with the battery disconnected there is no circuit.

Typically the emergency release is on the right side of the car.

Thanks for your replies guys. I must have been listening to a Brit on YouTube when they said "Drivers side" I took out the drivers inner wheel and nothing. So I removed the passenger side and couldn't find the wire. To make matters worse I have after market wheels on the car and the spline socket was in the frunk. After much fishing around I found it tucked in against the headlight support and managed to hook it with a coat hanger. All is well that ends well. Lesson learned.

Yeah, I pretty much guarantee you'll never do that again.

When you take the front bumper cover off (surprisingly easy to do) to clean the debris from your radiators, re-route the wire to where the tow hook goes into the bumper (it's where the little circular cover is on the front of the bumper cover). The next time the battery is dead, you just pop the little cover off, and there is the release wire!

That has saved me once so far..

BTW, you can also jump power to a spot on the fuse box and then the electronic frunk release will work. Look in your owners manual.
