2001 Boxster Opening frunk without battery attached

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and I finally purchased my first Boxster last week.
2001 Arctic Silver - blue - blue. 33k miles. 2.7 5spd.

I had the ignition switch cause me problems my second time out with the car. I ordered a new switch and I disconnected the battery to do the replacement, and you probably know what happened next. I shut the frunk..........damn. This car has electronic hood release. Can anyone confirm if there is an emergency release under the drivers side inner wheel well plastic. I don't want to go fishing for it if it doesn't exist. I tried the fuse panel emergency terminal but of course with the battery disconnected there is no circuit.
