The stock throttle body will no longer fit. Depending on the model you buy it will take a 74mm or larger.

pretty much settles it; upgrade to ipd requires a larger TB

74? go for 82.
before you go IPD, take a look at Ben's solution.
i have one of his 3D printed prototypes installed on my 996, and absolutly loves it.

How does Ben's solution compare to a 74 or 82 TB?

Hard to beat the price of the 997 distribution tee with the 996 throttle body. I have both in the garage but have to source the silicone boots to mate the 997 tee to the 986 intake manifolds. I also bought IPD's RIDICULOUSLY pricey silicone intake hose to run to the throttle body. I just haven't taken the time to do the install yet.
