Brake Fluid Reservoir questions
What's the trick to removing the inner 'basket' in the reservoir without chopping it up like I have done? I use the pliers and pull method and you can see what it has done. I didn't see this as an individual part that could be replaced? Anyone?

It looks as if you've got a particularly stubborn one. They do eventually pull out...and I don't think the part is available separately. I seem to remember I pried mine off with a screwdriver...with some difficulty.

Try getting a small screwdriver between the screen and neck. Then open it up enough to sneak a needle nosed pliers in. Grab with the pliers and pull it up but also in a circular motion.

^ what they said... especially husker though it seems to vary each time. In which case, refer back to JayG's directions. LOL

Probably to suck out the old fluid and flush with new.

That's why I take mine out. I use a turkey baster and remove the old fluid from the reservoir. No need pushing it thru the lines so I can bleed it off.

Wouldn't flushing it eliminate any old fluid? Why remove the entire tank in the first place? I flushed my fluid not long ago using the Motive... removed zero, except for the reservoir cap.
Am I missing something? I'm open to instruction? Thanks!

Yes, flushing would remove the old fluid in the reservoir. But the reservoir holds a fair amt of fluid. Why push all of it thru the lines to just bleed it out? By removing the screen, you can access the reservoir with a turkey baster and remove the old fluid. Replace with new fluid. Then all you have to bleed is the fluid in the lines.

Thanks. Makes sense.
IIRC, when I flushed my fluid I was wondering why that part didn't just lift out and... with the baster I didn't remove much.
Thanks!

I removed the screen easily but have no access for turkey baster. There is like another screen. Is there a way to remove it?

There's only 1 screen in the reservoir. Once it's out you should have full access to the fluid. Sounds like you just took the cap off the reservoir.
Can you attach a pic?

I gave up on mine... and let the whole fluid drain and refilled later on, I mean as it was going down.
I tried pliers, flat blade, fingers, nitrile gloves... nothing worked.
