it can be retrofitted.
i think there is an article about it on the pelican website.
you will need some other components then just the top itself.

The ‘03-‘04 top and frame assembly’s will fit any 986 series Boxster.
I just replaced the vinyl window top on my ‘02 base with ‘03 glass top and frame assy.
Pretty easy procedure. Here is a tutorial I used.

Thanks for the link. Going to read through it all tonight. What I am looking to do is just replace the entire top, including all the hardware and parts necessary to swap over. I couldn't find anything on Pelican's site other then just a how to on replacing the top itself. With some cars it's as easy as just unbolting a few things and putting back on.

One of the easiest upgrades I’ve completed. Only (3) bolts to remove on each side. Took me (3) hrs. to remove original top and frame and then install and adjust the ‘03 top and frame. Good luck.

It is a great upgrade on a base 2000. You add the glass rear window with a defroster and a headliner. It gives the car a more upscale feel. If you can get a good deal on the top and frame I recommend that you accept it. You may need a second person to help you in order to avoid scratching your paint.

Be careful not to tear the foam drain trays. Very easy to stab them.
