Probably the “other guy.” I bought my Miata around 2000 or 2001. The Miata forum was in full swing by then. I saw a post from the other owner describing his hard top “score” and we eventually made contact. I wonder whether the old Miata magazines are available on line.

Couldn't have been your car I saw in the magazine then. That was early 1990's. Which means this hardtop swap thing happened more than once. What are the odds of that?

Here's a stack of Miata Magazines on Ebay. I remember having a couple of these so I wouldn't be surprised if that article is in one of them: Miata Magazines They're not online though. I looked everywhere.
