Update: I did manage to get it working again by holding the power recline button down for a few cycles and something "clicked" into place. I am just happy I didn't have to take the seat apart.

It might happen again.....but at least you know it's possible to attempt a fix without pulling the seat. I really wouldn't be surprised if your issue arises again.

Personally, I almost never use the back release my driver's seat....I never need to because there's really no room for much of anything.
