SAI Delete: remove or retain vacuum canister?

I’m in the midst of an SAI delete and I’m reading conflicting reports as to whether to remove or retain the vacuum canister (#6 in this pic). Which is it?
I am using the block off plates for the block and particlewave’s SAI delete circuit.

For future searches: my 98 2.5 manual did not have any vacuum lines connected to the canister aside from the SAI components, so I removed the canister.
YMMV.
