And at what point does one go from a fun road cruiser to a uncomfortable race car. I would love to strip out everything but then listening to everything moving would probably drive me nuts. It's too bad some of the real good ones cost so much, like carbon fiber this and that.
Seats would be a nice one too. More racey feel, lighter without all the removal of stuff to make the car unbearable on the road.
I'm a long way from race car but am open to getting a little closer.

Well up until now i havent done or tried any serious mods. But here are mine thu far:
Changed dash speakers on 4th iteration now as full audio upgrade in work.
Swapped the stock 4 channel amp for a 6 channel out of a 996 cab.
Did a complete led light upgrade interior plus tag light. Bulbs added more light and burn much cooler.
Favorite the next one on the books! Lol
I think my audio upgrade will be favorite once finished.
Forgot a mod: renline magnetic cell phone holder. Probably favorite got cell phone out of the way while easy to see gos.

987 Shifter, Momo Steering wheel (at the cost of the drivers airbag) but so much better. Underdrive pully. NO more bleeding PS pump.

Favorite Mod
For me, I’ve enjoyed the cat-delete project, but still #1 on my list is the OBC and CC activation that was possible due to my new, good friend Dwight’s (pdwight) superb harnesses. Dwight - don’t work so hard!

GT3 console delete. Might not be for everyone but it has transformed the car for me. Both comfort and heel-toe ability improved immensely.

I just finished the 9x7 shifter upgrade. Best $100 “mod” I’ve come across. Do it! I replaced the knob with the “classic” aluminum knob from Function First. (Available from forum sponsor Pelican) The boot was worn, so I ordered up a replacement from Redline Goods. I got blue stitching on black leather and it looks awesome with my Metro Blue interior. Very happy with how it came out. Smoother shifts...a small ~15% reduction in throw...zero “notchiness.” I can’t say enough about the improvement over my old shifter.
It’s part number: 99742401000 easy to find new or used.

For me, installing the 997 GT3 Shifter. Made the car feel like a new one. Nice positive shifts with a shorter throw .

Handling
For me, after 10 years of driving my S 987.1 the best two (most noticeable) mods were:
In chronological order
1) Adjustable coilovers (compression/rebound)
2) OS Giken LSD
The coilovers are amazing as you can lower the car without getting stiffer ride for the street and the LSD transforms the car completely.
Now that I no longer have the 987.1 these are my goals for the 981, so all I need to is start eating ramen noodles every day and start saving..
PS: The 3.8 LN Nickies & pistons were next on the 987.1 list, but somehow my destiny changed..

For the track, Sparco race seat. Aesthetically, I like my #44 in a circle for that retro look.

Is it possible to buy the relay? Or, does the mod need some other "work". Looked for a how too, but only found one.
