Missing Hard Top Trim
I moved recently and re-installed the hard top to avoid any potential damage. I just happened to look at the mounting point beside the dome light and it looks like I might be missing some trim. There are four holes in the picture which may or may not be used to secure the trim. Is this normal or am I missing a trim piece?

You need the hardtop latch cover. Any good Porsche dealer or Porsche parts dealer can get this part for you for about $30.

The Part Number is: 986 563 551 00, price right now seems to be around $20.

Or if you want to pay more, buy one on eBay!

I have to ask because I don't know the answer and mine is missing also . Does the cover snap in place ? Then un-snap to activate the latch ? Just wondering how many times can you go through that procedure before the plastic breaks ? Or is it a pain to install/remove ? Just trying to learn if it's worth it for me to order the cover , I'm also missing the rear latch covers . I bought the top used but there must be a reason they are missing . Sorry if I hijacked the original thread .

Probably the prior owner of your hardtop took them off to adjust the fit and either forgot to replace them or broke them taking them out - although those snap in and out easily too.

It snaps in place. The plastic that is part of the top is much stronger than the plastic tabs on the covers, so the covers will break first. I have installed/removed mine at least two dozen times over the last ten years with no issue other than some of the tabs on the cover bending, and I just bent them back. I may have replaced the latch cover once in that time, but I cannot recall. You can buy the rear covers as well, check the parts manual pdf for the part numbers. They are simply a cosmetic item.

Been using mine for years and it’s still in great shape. This piece cleans up the interior nicely and in my opinion worth it. Positive is they are cheap enough that if it does break just buy another.
