Hi,

The latest itineration of the 550 is the Boxster. The RS Spyder is a purpose built race car built to ALMS specs and not street legal whereas the 550 was a weekend racer, legal for the street but capable at the track. Hope this helps...

Hello MIKE (Mr I know Everything)

Guess what, I have the factory poster right behind me of the RS Spyder, Porsche references the 550 as the first factory built racer, designed only for racing. It goes on to reference the RS as the lastest prototype racecar, Porsche ties the two cars together. It is why I wrote what I did. I concede the RS may not to be an evolution of the 550 but the link of the two cars as the first and latest factory built racers is undeniable, as it is a claim made by the F A C T O R Y! Your constant upsmanship gets old really fast, you seem very well versed in the Boxster but your constant MIKE style makes you a douche at times, try to fight the impulse. You can't learn anything new when you think you know it all.

I hope this helps, Happy Motoring! (even though you stole that from ESSO)

Oh and Brucey, if you could fight the urge to leave some Ward Cleaverish soliloquy regarding this interaction between myself and Jimbo it would be greatly appreciated, in other words, SAVE IT.

I'd like to know the reasoning behind the claim that the RS Spyder is only the second car designed just for racing. Porsche has had probably a couple of dozen racing-only cars, including Formula 1 and 2 cars.

the single most important thing about the Boxster in my opinion is that its the first
pure roadster to be built by Porsche.
All other convertibles built by Porsche in the past started out as a sport coupe. Porsche hacked off the roofs (rooves?) to meet customer demmands for drop top fun. These hacked coupes have been the best selling Porsches.
The Boxster was designed to be a convertible and the coupe came later.

Top Gear named it the best sports car in the world because according to them
a pure sports car was one that had little practicality, rear wheel drive, only two passengers and no roof.

Yeah, but surprisingly nothing is happening. See that is what is different between this board and the Mustang boards I used to visit. Mustangworld.com would have turned into a Jerry Springer epsiode by now. As Porsche entusiasts though, I suppose we are just more dignified. Jim and BruceLee are probably negotiating with Grizzly for some sort of contract deal behind the scenes as I type this...

Or even better are the UFO/Area 51 dot.coms. Those boards turn into cover-ups, cabals, stratagems, collaborations, and conspiracies on topics as mundane as toothpastes!

By the way, have you noticed Dr. Kill and Perfectlap are from New Jersey?
Stucaz is from New York. Both start with "New."
MNboxster starts with "M" then "N" which is the first letter of "New."
"New" spelled backwards is Wen. If you eliminate the "e" in "Wen" you get "WN." If you substitute the "N" in "WN" with an "I" instead you get WI.
WI is the abbreviation for Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is geographically proximate to Minnesota. .. . . MNBoxster, get it. . . . Coincidence. . . .? Hmmmmmmm.
Just an observation.

Hi,

Nah... I lived in Downtown Chicago for 12 years and so I realize how stressful Big City life can be.

Truth is, if you post as much as I have in the past year or so, you're gonna take some hits - that's the way it goes. The net is easy, try that face to face with some guy in NYC and you're bound to get your Septum displaced.

But, I do think someone (namely Stuck Cat , or whatever) needs to have their dosage adjusted, because he even preemptorally admonished Jeff (aka Bruce) for moderating the issue. Imagine, a Moderator moderating... what a concept...

hmmm....

So now that we have the Cayman, is the Boxster still a pure sports car according to Top Gear?

One day people might forget which one was first... a lot of people already say that the Boxster is a convertible Cayman, where the Cayman is really the provertible model of the Boxster.

Maybe you just can't admit that sometimes you are wrong, at times you supercede other posters for no apparent reason... I have seen others react to your behavior as well not just Stcatz. It's clear you are a competent mechanic but at times you preach...

Just Saying..

Hi,

I have never claimed, or said, that I know everything, this has been inferred (incorrectly) by others. Nor do I know of any instance where I failed to admit I was incorrect if proven otherwise in a factual matter.

If I don't happen to share your (or others) point(s) of view in a matter of opinion, that doesn't mean I'm wrong, it only means we share a different opinion on the matter. One cannot be wrong on matters of opinion, and I make no apologies here (nor should anyone else).

So far as any competency I may possess as a Mechanic, this is soley due to many wonderful people I have encountered through the years who both took the time, and had the patience, to teach me, beginning with my Late father. My Learning Curve was pretty steep. Any kudos belong to them.

As to your comment about preaching, seems you've done a little of that on your own...

Classic deflection

Re statement of my inability to ever see myself as in error.

Sappy sugary nonsense executed in a vein attempt to look humble

No, this post is preaching...
