Fuel Treatments

Greetings,

I don't have much time to get the Boxster out, and she can sit for weeks on end under cover in the garage. I worry about the gas getting stale, particularly E10.

Are you guys treating your E10 with anything other than Stabil? There's a product called Stabil 360 (evidently for marine use) that claims to correct the ill effects of E10. I don't even remember if E10 was around when my car was built in '98.

The Boxster is not on the list of Porsche's that they recommend not using E10. Wawa's in my area have ethanol-free "marine fuel," so should I be using that instead? I just don't remember what octane it is. Likely 89.

Any input would be most appreciated.

You can use regular StaBil without problems. The 360 product was developed for use in marine environments where the ambient moisture level is very high. It also had a vapor component designed to protect metal fuel storage containers and tanks, which is net present in the Boxster.

Thanks...Is there any reason to be concerned using E10, or would it provide any benefit to move over to non-ethanol?

Non ethanol is always better, but a lot of people don’t have access to non ethanol and use StaBil without issues.

Well....Living in the northern suburbs of Chicago (in a big corn growing state like Illinois) it's a long drive to find non-ethanol fuel. No stations in or anywhere near Cook County......but by loading the app on my phone hopefully I'll make a few stops when I drive north into Wisconsin.

NICE APP!

Lots of the Kwik Trips have 91 octane, no ethanol. You won't find any 93 octane without ethanol.
