Clam shell cover alignment issue

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and just purchased 03 Boxster 73K miles 5 spd 3-4 months ago. Both left & right side front clam shell cover is not even, rt side front is down roughly 1/4 inch to Quarter Panel and left side is down half as much compare to right side. I searched Youtube and this site but I couldn't find thread how to adjust the clam shell cover. Here are photos with the problem. Has anyone had this problem and how do I align it so it is flushed to the quarter panels?

I'm not mechanically inclined at all and I may have gotten over my head on buying this car because repairs on so expensive. I'm trying to learn and do repairs myself.
I do have to say driving this car, I love the way it handles and performs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Read through this article on Mike Focke's web page. More info than you need, but I'm sure the fix you are looking for is in there.

Here's the overall index of his Boxster pages:

..and in case you have not found it yet, here's the Pelican Parts Boxster Tech Articles page:

You may be surprised how much you can do yourself. Start with small simple projects to build skill and increase your tool collection.

There are stops under the leading edges of the clam shell that can adjusted in seconds to bring this into alignment.

I find that my actual clam shell leading edges are not uniform and don't line up well with aluminum cover plates in front. It looks like the nose of one is bent down slight as compared the the other. Does anybody else have this or am I not adjusting correctly?

In plan view the arc of the clamp shell edge does not match up up the covers......just a 986 thing I imagine.....this has always bothered me.

Is there a light weight/carbon version of this thing.....then I can kill two birds with one stone.
